Quickly the race would grind to a halt as Pep Corradi made hard contact with the outside wall triggering a massive pileup on the front stretch that included Jeremy Wilder, Paul Kinney, Don Mattison, Craig Hanson, Cass Bennett, Jim Davis and Bobby Varin.
